The HPF Workshop was held in Japan Marine Science and Technology Center on September 25, 2003, and about 30 persons participated in it. There were some talks made by researchers from Japan Atomic Energy Research Institute and National Institute of Fusion Science who actually adopts HPF in their works as well as Sakagami, Ogino and Murai from HPFPC.

In this workshop, there were many talks on the application of HPF, such as those on the advantage and disadvantage, comparison of HPF and MPI, and some evaluation results in parallelizaing real application programs. It is very impressive that not only developers but also users made many presentations. It must be referred that the HPF compiler for PC clusters developed by NEC, Fujitsu and ESC was also presented. It is expected that much more people can use HPF.
In the session of developement plan of NEC, they gave answers to the demands and problems raised and reported in the 2nd HPF seminar.
